Lake Merritt Trials Garden - Self Guided Tour

Hello and welcome to the Lake Merritt Trials Garden, a project of the Master Gardeners of Alameda County. Master Gardeners are volunteers of the University of California Cooperative Extension and relay research-based garden advice and information to the public. Explore our area and take this self-guided tour.  Links to download the free handouts will appear as you move from station to station.

Our garden contains some of the plants on the lists of Outstanding Plants for Alameda County a printed version is contained within the brochure box on our Trials Garden shed. These plants were selected for their adaptation to our growing environment, their beauty, their habitat value and their water-conserving characteristics. We have approximately 25 of these plants growing throughout the garden—look for the signs identifying them.

Click the map below to begin the tour.

You can find out more information about the plants in our garden by clicking on the name of the plant from the list below.  Plants included in the self-guided tour are clearly labeled.
