Self Guided Tour Station 2: Monarch Butterfly Habitat
This area contains a variety of milkweeds, the food plant for the larvae/caterpillars of the Monarch butterfly. There are also a variety of flowers to attract adult monarchs in hopes they will lay their eggs on the milkweed. Monarch numbers have declined over time due to loss of habitat and other environmental factors. This station is an example of how home gardeners might provide habitat to help monarchs.
